Spending time in nature has tremendous health benefits for the human physiological and psychological systems.
One form of nature therapy, called grounding or earthing, involves a barefoot connection with the surface of Earth.
With modern lifestyles and heavy urbanization however, we have become disconnected from the Earth.
We no longer live surrounded by nature or sleep on the ground, but instead live in dense concrete jungles and sleep in high-rise apartment buildings.
We have lost our conductive roots by walking around in plastic or rubber-soled shoes that create a barrier between us and the ground’s natural energy.
By removing this barrier and reconnecting to the Earth’s surface, we allow energy to flow naturally and allow the restorative effects of nature to take place, resulting in improvements to physiological relaxation and immune function recovery.
The human body is a bio-electric system functioning on currents and frequencies. The elements in our bodies, such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, or sodium, all have a specific electrical charge. Our cells use these charged elements to generate electricity.
The Earth also possesses a limitless and continuously renewed supply of free electrons. It’s surface is electrically conductive and self maintained by a worldwide atmospheric electrical circuit known as the Schumann resonance.
This resonance, named after physicist Winfried Otto Schumann who mathematically predicted it in 1952, is essentially the heartbeat of our world.
So when we establish a connection directly with Earth, we open up our electrical circuit and allow the flow of energy to be free. We ground our energy into the Earth and with it accept the flows of Earth’s natural energy to promote relaxation and healing within the bio-electrical circuitry of our bodies.
There are many benefits to grounding:
- Reduces stress
- Improves circulation
- Improves energy
- Reduces inflammation or pain
- Resets biological clock
- Increases production of melatonin
- Normalizes secretion of the hormone cortisol
- Shields against low frequency electromagnetic fields
- Influences Thyroid gland function
- plus more!
When you are grounded you feel centered, balanced, and strong. Everything we ought to be.
